The first floristic report from the Herbarium of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University since the collection was moved to new, expanded quarters was published in Castanea in 1970 (3). It was based on information uncovered in processing the collection and in the course of identifying specimens. This report added 12 taxa new to the Virginia Flora, deleted 35, and provided a number of distributional and taxonomic notes. An opportunity was taken to bring at least this portion of the flora in line with current concepts.
