Dr. R. Dale Thomas, Professor of Biology, University of Louisiana at Monroe, received this year’s Elizabeth Ann Bartholomew Award from the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society (SABS). The award was announced at the Society’s annual breakfast meeting on April 6, 2001, during the 62nd annual meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists in New Orleans, Louisiana. This award honors Elizabeth Ann Bartholomew’s remarkable contributions to botanical education and her dedicated service both to the scientific botanical community and to this organization. The Award is given annually to an SABS member who has made similar contributions to botany in the Southeast.
