Publishing as a Student
Students are important to our dual mission to further botanical interest and disseminate information relating to the flora and ecology of the Appalachians and adjacent regions.
SABS, with the help of our Sustaining Members, is able to offer students membership at reduced rates and access to our publications. Members enjoy twelve free pages of print in Castanea yearly.

Publication Charges
Castanea is sponsored by the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society but must collect publication fees in order to offset the costs of each issue’s publication.
We offer two pricing options for an article’s publication. Authors can choose between paying per printed page or a flat fee for an open access article.
