Andre Michaux was one of the most important personalities in the botanical explorations in the 18th century in America, this being especially true for his work in the Carolinas. His Flora Boreali-Americana was the first North American Flora to be published. All the plants that appear in his Flora were collected personally by Michaux, truly a unique feature of his work.
