This is the first floristic report from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute Herbarium since the collection was moved to new quarters in Derring Hall. The information presented here is based on older collections processed during the move, public service identifications done in cooperation with VPI Extension Services and recent collections of the authors and others. To date, these sources have provided 12 state records for Virginia, 36 deletions and a number of notes on rarities, synonymy and other points of interest. Increasing interest in the flora of Virginia, and the Southeast in general, suggests that such information should be made available as it accrues.
