This text, describing the plant cover of West Virginia, is an outgrowth of some 38 years of study on the part of the author. Dr. Core, recently finishing a tour of 18 years as Chairman of the Biology Department at West Virginia University, has spent a good portion of that time studying the vegetation of the State, through his own work and his graduate students’ work. Perhaps no living person is better qualified to write such a book.
