This vast work, when completed, will provide the first complete guide to the ferns and ferns-allies, and seed-bearing plants of the Northwest, including Washington, northern Oregon, Idaho north of the Snake River plains, the mountainous western part of Montana, and southern British Columbia. The hundreds of excellent illustrations were prepared by Jeanne R. Janish, one of the best known botanical artists in the country. When complete, about 4,000 species will be described and illustrated.
