This excellent paperback is a translation from the German, and should surely be one of the best recent lay treatises on mimicry. While Wickler does not go into mathematical or genetical background for many of his examples, he does give excellent discussions (and illustrations) of them. The ecology of many of the situations is particularly enlightening, and should serve to awaken many biologists to natural phenomena they have been overlooking. This reviewer would recommend it as good reading for every biologist.
