Hardly a week goes by these days without the appearance of a new general biology textbook or laboratory manual. It is comforting to know that they are mostly good books and among the many titles it is easy to select a serviceable work. Among recent noteworthy publications may be mentioned the third edition of the “Wabash text”,* a new Saunders text, with an accompanying laboratory manual, and the second edition of Elliott and Ray’s work’. Any of these would be satisfactory for a two-semester course in college biology.
