Leavenworthia torulosa Gray: An Endangered Plant Species in Kentucky

The cedar glade endemic Leavenworthia torulosa Gray is presently known from only two localities in Kentucky, one in Warren and the other in Logan County. At both sites most of the plants grow in an area less than 10 m2. Due to bulldozing work in the area, the Logan Co. population is only about one-tenth its 1972 size. Slight alterations of the habitat at these two sites could easily cause the species to become extinct in Kentucky.
