The brilliant white, intensely fragrant panicles of Galium boreale L. caught the writer’s eye as he drove westward on Virginia Highway 43, midway between Buchanon and Eagle Rock in Botetourt County on May 30, 1964. Fruiting specimens were taken from the same clones on June 17, 1964. These have been confirmed as G. boreale var. hyssopifolium (Hoffm.) DC. by Dr. A. B. Massey at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. It is an addition to the Virginia flora. Specimens are deposited in the herbaria of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, University of North Carolina and Lynchburg College.
