Notes on Physcia pesudospeciosa and P. wainioi in Eastern North America

Thomson (1963) described Physcia pseudospeciosa from a collection by Hale in McDowell County, West Virginia. It has not been reported since. In September of 1969 I collected P. pseudospeciosa from an exposed gneiss outcrop at an elevation of 5,000 feet in North Caro lina (BUNCOMBE CO.: Mt. Pisgah; Skorepa 5349; TENN, WIS) and in February of 1970 from conglomerate in mesic woods with Anaptychia palmufata, Caloplaca flavovirescens, Heterodermia tremulans, Parmelia aurulenta, Physcia orbicularis, and Sticta weigelii in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee (SEVIER CO.: Big Buckeye Trail; Skorepa & Moyle 5500; SIU, TENN).
