This President’s Message will be short (and sweet, I hope). Southern Appalachian Botanical Society is doing well. Our newsletter, Chinquapin, continues to serve us beautifully and we are grateful to Dan Pittillo for his work. We can all be proud of Castanea, thanks to the fine efforts of our editors and our managing editor, Audrey Mellichamp. The organization is held together by the Secretary-Treasurer, Charlie Horn, who is outstanding in his performance. We didn’t think anyone could approach the excellence of Mike Baranski or Cindy Aulbach-Smith, but Charlie is superb. Past-President Don Windler has excelled in promoting the Endowment Fund. If you have not been approached by him, make his day by contacting him and letting him know of your interest in contributing in this way.
