Vascular Flora of the Obed Wild and Scenic River, Tennessee

The vascular flora of the Obed Wild and Scenic River in Cumberland and Morgan Counties on the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee was studied. The flora consists of 734 taxa in 392 genera and 122 families. Fifty-nine taxa are introduced. Sixteen taxa are considered threatened, endangered, or of special concern in Tennessee: Adlumia fungosa, Amelanchier sanguinea, Calamovilfa arcuata, Conradina verticillata, Helenium brevifolium, Helianthus eggertii, Hexastylis contracta, Hieracium scabrum, Hydrastis canadensis, Leucothoe racemosa, Marshallia grandifolia, Panax quinquefolium, Polygonella americana, Polymnia laevigata, Sporobolus junceus, and Talinum teretifolium. Sporobolus junceus was found for the first time in Tennessee. Helianthus eggertii, previously thought to be limited to oak barrens, is reported from bouldery gravel bars.
