Since 1984, the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society has been striving to develop an Endowment to insure its future and that of its journal, Castanea. Early in the effort, a goal of $200,000 was set. In 1996, the cumulative generosity of the members has allowed the Society to pass the $62,000 mark.
