This little book is an approach to the living organism through a study of its chemistry. It covers some of the processes involved, from the building materials themselves, through DNA and proteins, to photosynthesis and respiration, then shows the use of this stored energy, in the senses of steady state mechanisms and evolution. A final (and rather short) chapter deals with the origin of life.
