Aaron John Sharp, renowned botanist and teacher, charter member, solid supporter and former officer of the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society, died quietly at age 93 at 11 p.m. on Saturday, 15 November 1997, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. His wife of 68 years, Evelyn, was at his side. A fall at home a few days before had resulted in a broken hip made fragile from metastasized prostate cancer. In addition to his widow, he leaves four surviving children, eight surviving grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren.
