Like many other parts of the Appalachian Mountain System, the Massanutten Mountains in Virginia are interesting, botanically, because an unusual number of plants are found here whose ranges are chiefly northern; or southern; or coastal plain. Here, too, occur plants of ancient genera whose nearest relatives are found in eastern Asia.
